Fishing

Fishing, or angling, is the pursuit of aquatic life using a hook attached to a line. It is a rewarding activity that blends patience, strategy, and the right equipment.

The core of your gear starts with the fishing rod, a flexible pole that acts as a lever for casting the line and fighting a hooked fish. Attached to the rod is the reel, a winding mechanism used to store, deploy, and retrieve the line. Modern reels include a drag system to control the line tension when a strong fish runs.

At the "business end" of the line, the hooks are critical—sharp, barbed instruments designed to catch and hold the fish. These hooks are often dressed with bait or lures to entice the target species, such as freshwater trout. Finally, for safe and successful landing, a net is used to scoop the fish from the water, protecting both the angler and the catch, especially if practising catch-and-release.
